Dr.Janamaddi Hanumath Sastry is popularly known as "Brown Sastry" in telugu literary world. He was born on 20.10.1925 in Rayadurg, a small town in the disctrict of Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh to Late Smt. Janakamma and Late Sri Subrahmanya Sastri. He pursued his Master of Arts degree in English and Telugu, B.Ed. Rashtra Visharada. He was honoured with D.Litt by the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad for his invaluable contributions to the world of Telugu literature. He worked as a teacher, Inspector of Schools, Educational Survey Officer and lecturer in English in Degree College. He retired on 28.02.1984. He dedicated his entire life for the development of C.P.Brown Library. He had written 40 Books in Telugu, 2 Books in English and about 3000 articles on various subjects which were published in various popular Telugu Dailies, Weeklies and Monthly magazines.
